Gain Relief From a Breast Reduction

Do you suffer from large and heavy breasts? A breast reduction from board-certified Dr. Jacqueline Royce DO of Royce Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery PA will provide you with the relief you need. Breast reductions remove the following:

  • Excess fat
  • Breast tissue
  • Skin

Much like a breast lift, a reduction can help bring them into proper proportion with your frame, while also rejuvenating your breasts' appearance.

During your free consultation for a breast reduction, we will discuss your options and help determine the procedures that are best for you and your body. Call us today to schedule your free consultation.

Breast Reduction Options

For all reduction surgeries, we will need to make incisions on your breasts. These incisions will be made based on the size of your breasts and your needs. Through the incisions that are made, we will remove the tissue then lift and shape the tissue and restore your nipple to a better position.

Creating Symmetry in Your Breasts

Most women experience breast asymmetry during their life. Breast asymmetry is when one breast appears uneven in the following:

  • Size
  • Volume
  • Position
  • Form

These fluctuations can be the result of the following:

  • Puberty
  • Breastfeeding
  • Genetics
  • Hormonal changes - pregnancy and menopause

Surgical Options for Breast Asymmetry

  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast reduction
  • Breast lift

Recovery Time for Corrective Breast Asymmetry

You will most likely return to work after a 5-7 day rest, and return to aerobic exercise about 30 days post-op and all other vigorous activities about 60 days post-op.

Male Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reductions are not only available to women – they are also available to men that are looking to get rid of their “man boobs” and create a more confident self-image.

Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the male breast that consists of the following:

  • Skin
  • Gland
  • Fat

The change in size can be from various reasons ranging from genetics or hormonal imbalance to the excessive use of steroids and alcohol. This condition is fairly common. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), almost 30% of males experience this sometime throughout their life.

What Are My Surgery Options?

The procedure for gynecomastias is safe and effective. The use of liposuction helps to remove the excess tissue in the breast. The procedure does require at least a small incision for liposuction and another small incision for the fat and gland. Depending on how much extra skin there is, you may require more incisions.

After the procedure, you will wear a compression garment for the first couple of weeks prior to surgery to minimize the amount of swelling and promote healing. You may return to work after 5-7 days. You may resume exercise after about 30 days and more strenuous activities after about 60 days.
